Dan Fitness Session Buffalo, NY Trainer

I was very excited to shoot Dan for the second time this year! He was super pumped (no pun intended) and very photogenic this time around. I was honored he invited me to capture and witness all his hard work and dedication he put into his physique. He's an inspiring personal trainer and truly on to great things! Here's an excerpt he wrote me about the struggles he went through to get to where he is today. I hope his words can inspire you like they did me!

"Pursuing a career in fitness has always been a dream of mine, ever since I stepped foot out of the last treatment center I was at for my eating disorder! Throughout high school, my life took a drastic turn for the worst when I was diagnosed with anorexia nervosa, which basically is just a name to describe the symptoms that I lived with.

Within a short amount of time I was hospitalized for being anorexic. I had a bruised liver and weighed around 110 pounds at the same height that I am to this day. It was a struggle to say the least. After being hospitalized, I was in and out of treatment and depression started to really take over my life or what I thought was “life”. I became suicidal and I had plans on committing suicide, in all honesty I lost all hope for myself and my life in general. If it wasn’t for my mom getting me to admit I was suicidal, I probably wouldn’t be here today. This is where I was sent to my last intensive treatment which was the best thing that ever happened to me. After being discharged from this treatment I was in a much better frame of mind, I gained some weight back and I started to actually feel human again.

As my mom and I were driving home from the treatment center in Baltimore I made a goal for myself. The goal was that I overcome what brought me down so low in the past and to pursue fitness and hopefully bring others to see the potential that they have in themselves. I live with a lot of regret because of my past with the eating disorder but I’ve now learned that it shaped me to the person I am today. Every time I step in the gym it makes me remember where I was to where I am now and it’s the fuel to my fire. I am now a certified personal trainer and plan on going back to school to study nutrition to become an RD! I’m not here to impress others, I’m here to bring control over my life and live a life that I can be happy about! When it’s all said and done, the only thing that matters to me is that I’m happy and that I’m to spread happiness to others around me!'
